Death lay all around me, shredded boat covered the sea surface, it had all happened so suddenly. One minute I was with my leader the woman who taught me everything I knew. A few seconds later I was alone. My inspiration to live lay limp in my arms. Crashing against me, the Pacific Oceans ice cold waters.

Slowly I glided through the audience. My tear stained cheeks and tired eyes must have alerted them of something. Begining this speech would be hard. Calmly I began to speak "Hello all" My voice broke as I spoke. "It is with much sadness that I have to inform you that Arial our faithful leader of Mermaidia was killed last night. She was killed while trying to help a peacekeeping ship. Unfortunately, this ship was armed with a deadly gas bomb that was designed to destroy our undersea ecosystem. We no longer have any food." As I spoke my last sentence the crowd went berserk.

Until now my people had never had trouble. But now we were lost with a polluted home and no more food. Not only that but humans had lost their supply of seafood and we were the only other option. The mermaid population had dropped from ten million down to two million. I had lost my friends, my family. Among the lost were influential leaders, many children but more dangerously nearly all of our women. I had to something fast before the humans had hunted us to extinction. I needed to make a deal.

"We are gathered here today on this tranquil Bora Bora beach, one of the last of its kind. I am willing to come to an agreement to work together. We all need to make sacrifices but I believe we can save this." my voice exuded confidence as I spoke. "Well whats in it for us." A gruff voice yelled from the audience. I recognized him as Horacio Cartes the president of Paraguay, one of the few landlocked countries. "Well, Horacio although you are not next to an ocean you get most of your food and water from the rivers that run through your countries. Rivers that will be destroyed by polluted water soon enough." I reasoned. We all need this I thought. "Well I'm in, for the sake of my people" Horacio explained. Suddenly the room was filled with sound, everyone else was in as well.

Together we had come to an agreement a common ground. Together we called the solution "Sea Survivors" we were going to be survivors of the polluted sea. After coming to an agreement that each country had to send out one-thousand people on boats. Thier job was to bring large nets connected to two boats and drag them through the ocean collecting all the rubble and pollution into separate bags. Our only other problem was the lack of fish. That was our job. We had been running our own fish breeding centers after the pollution began.

Operation Sea Survivors was ago. Vivid colors glided effortlessly out of their enclosures. Schools of all different sized fish and colored fish obscured my vision. A few days ago we thought this would be impossible. But here we are. Without beautiful clear blue water back. Not a spec of rubbish could be seen. Instead of bottle caps and plastic bags, there were grabs and fluorescent jellyfish. The deal was a success everyone had done their part. "I did it for you mum," I sobbed " I saved our home. I'm a leader like you always said I could be." I had completed Sea Survivors.
